  1. We’ve been there too. I’ve been a full-time mom for a while, which meant a lot of scraping by on one income. So when my husband was unemployed for a couples of months several years ago, it was really a scary time. You’re right about it seeming to last forever because you don’t know when it will end. There are so many questions. I felt kind of the same way when we were trying to sell our house in FL when we moved to AL for a new job. Will this ever end? And you have to consider the worst case scenarios.

    • That is the worst – not knowing and then having to consider all the “what if’s”!! It’s extremely stressful and scary!! I’m so thankful that ours was short-lived. I’m glad your family is back on their feet again, too. Sadly, I fear a lot of people can relate to the experiences you and I have had. I hate that the most! But through these kinds of experiences, I hope we all grow a new appreciation for the things that money doesn’t provide – family, love, health, happiness. 🙂

I’m glad you were able to do a lot of reflecting after watching that program and it seems like you’re in a great place now. You and your fam will adjust just fine, ESP w the attitude u have. 🙂 the unknowns and what ifs are scary tho! My husband finally started his first real world job today after being in graduate school and a post doc for most of his 20s lol!

  4. This is a great post. I was a student for most of the recession, so I haven’t had too much experience with seeing friends unemployed or struggling in this economy. Your experience helps remind me to be grateful for my job and to be compassionate for others.

You can never go wrong with being thankful and compassionate. Two very beautiful traits a person can possess, if I say so myself!
