Crocs, FroYo, Clouds…and a Surprise!!! Oh My!

See this..

It contains a surprise message for D!  She won’t get to read it until tomorrow afternoon.  But all week K and I have been plotting and planning to pull off this birthday surprise!  She turns 9 on Monday!

In recent months, I would wait until the very last minute to get things in order for whatever event may be occurring.   But not this time.  I’ve been working all week to prepare.  I took D to get new shoes last night – they are needed for the “surprise”!

I have never seen Crocs like these and D loves them!!!   She says they’re very comfortable.

While we were out, we were less than 25 feet from Yogurtland and I told K and D that I would have my blogger rights revoked if we didn’t stop!  We each got a very little bit, it was probably the cheapest trip to Yogurtland….ever!!

I worked 10 hours today, another plot to get stuff done at work so I can leave at my intended time tomorrow to pull off the “surprise” for D!

After work, I had to swing by the grocery store to pick up some necessities for the SUPER surprise!  Check out this view!

That’s a street light and clouds rising up behind it.  I thought it was wicked cool and as I stopped to snap a photo of it, I noticed other shoppers around me taking a moment to admire the beauty!!  It was like 85* here in Phoenix finally felt like fall with the weather and clouds.  RELIEF!!!

I’m not going to run tomorrow.  I’m not going to run again until next Wednesday. I swear the injury is actually in my foot and just radiating to other areas of my leg.  You know how when you go to the dentist and point out pain on one side of your mouth but the problem is actually from another side??  Yeah..I think that’s what’s happening here.

That’s my theory…I could be wrong…but I’m starting to believe I’m not!

In other non-running, non-surprise, completely random news…K and I are finishing up the final season of Weeds.  Can’t wait to see how this all ends!

Have you ever planned a big surprise for someone?

Do you wear Crocs?

What’s your favorite froyo place?

Do/did you watch Weeds?

A Body In Motion..

Have you ever heard the saying, “A body in motion stays in motion”?  Or is that a Bible verse?  I could Google it but I’m pressed for time know the saying, right?

I made up my mind Saturday that I had to get myself back in to the habit of taking care of things I’ve neglected and I’ve been holding to it!

I cleaned this out of my wallet!

Two months worth of receipts!!  I do keep a checkbook in Excel so I had to enter all that info before I could take the stack to work and shred it!  This is what I did early Sunday AM when I was up early with a sick D!

I’m on this “eggs for breakfast” kick and have been fixing eggs for D and me every morning!
One day I didn’t have time to make us eggs and I noticed I was starving less than an hour later.  So..definitely making a point to make sure that both D and I have some source of protein in the morning with breakfast!
I think D loves the idea of mommy fixing her breakfast every morning…and brushing her hair..and pulling it out of her face..and brushing her teeth.  SPOILED!!

I was so proud of my packed lunch this AM!

Mostly because of the honey crisp apple – delicious!

I love getting surprises in the mail…like this!

Meeting C 12 years ago changed my life-TRUE STORY!!!!  D is super excited about the Starbucks gift cards!!  Thank you, C!!!!  I love you!!!

In other fun, exciting news, M and I booked our flight for the Tinker Bell half marathon weekend today because Southwest is having a fabulous sale!!  Our travel dates fell within their travel restrictions so..score!  Round trip for $139 can’t be beat!  Imagine our excitement when we registered for the race and then our excitement when we reserved the hotel room and now our excitement that we have our flights booked!

Been busy but I’m feeling good.  I’m getting my mind and body prepared to go for a run tomorrow morning.  I am just way too tired in the afternoon to run so I need to change things up and get my runs done in the morning’s.  This is a total switch for me so it’s going to be an adjustment.  We’ll see how it goes!

What’s your favorite kind of apple?

Do you keep a checkbook register and balance it every time you get a statement?

Are you running the Tinker Bell half marathon?

Do you pack your lunch or buy every day?

Night and Day

On Sunday I was telling M that my eating habits have been really bad since I lost my job in July.  Surprisingly, I’ve only gained 3 pounds which isn’t awful considering my training was derailed and then I got injured.  Then we were talking about how much different my old job is from my new job.

In my new role, I hardly have the time to sit back in my chair. I’m always sitting on the edge of the chair and am up and down all day.  One of my coworkers commented today that she feels bad for me because I’m always up and walking back and forth.

She feels bad for me?  I’m actually thankful for the up and down, back and forth, and the in and out.

Then today..I was sitting at my desk working on a project and noticed I was sweating.

At my last job, I use to have to keep a heating pad on my lap to keep me warm!

Say what?!

In other news…my leg felt “stiff” today but not sore.  A coworker commented on me limping, and I noticed it too, but I didn’t feel any pain.  Just felt stiff or tight.  I’ve been stretching my foot like crazy by bringing it up to a knee high footstool and then leaning in on the foot.  For whatever reason, it seems to be loosening things up in my leg.  I’m starting to wonder if my injury is originating from my foot?!

So..that’s all for me this Tuesday – sweating at work and the mysterious injury!

I’m making a stew in the crock pot tomorrow so I’ll be able to get my run on after I get home from work! (Please note: I have not tried this recipe before but I found it super quick when I was grocery shopping and found stew meat on special!)  Can I just tell you – I am really excited to resume my regular running schedule??!!!

Do you sweat at work?

Have you ever had a mysterious foot injury?

Would you rather park it in the chair all day at work or be up and down/back and forth?

She Works Hard For Her Money!

Been so busy at work this week.  One minute I look at the clock and it’s 9 am, the next minute it’s already 10:55 am!  Before I know it, it’s well past 3 pm!!

I worked 11.5 hours today.  But it’s a good kind of exhausted – I am happy to be working!

Good thing I put dinner in the crock pot before I went to work so D and K were good to go on the dinner front.

And I just remembered I was supposed to go to a happy hour tonight.  Poop!!!

I’ll be happy when I get that pay check reflecting all this OT!!  Wonder what new running gear I should reward myself with?

Leg is feeling good.  I see the chiro tomorrow night and *fingers crossed* she clears me to run a bit this weekend.  I’d be happy with an okay for a 3 mile run…

What should I spend my OT on?

Do you cook with your crock pot a lot?

Don’t you hate it when you miss Happy Hour?!?

Celebrate Good Times…C’mon!!

It’s a celebration!!!

Remember how happy I was on August 20th when I got a job?  I was pretty stoked.  What I didn’t explain at the time was that it was a contract job and came with a pretty hefty pay cut…but that wasn’t very important to me as I was just happy to be going back to work!

Fast forward to today…I got offered a permanent job with the same company and…a promotion!!!  The cherry on top of this delicious sundae..a comfortable bump in pay!!

I have always, always, always believed that God had a plan, He is in control, and He would provide.  Prayers answered!!!

Tonight, K, D and I had a celebratory dinner and beer (for me and K…Mr. Pipp for D) at ? – you guessed it – San Tan Brewing Co!!!

D enjoying her cheesey goodness!

Today brought a huge sense of relief for me and my family!!  So thankful to God and all His blessings!!

Tomorrow I will be going to my favorite running store to purchase a new pair of running shoes..going to test out Brooks, Asics and my original brand, Pearl iZumi!

I plan to run again, post injury, on Wednesday. I am really looking forward to running again.  I have another half marathon November 4th and to celebrate my new permanent job, I’m going to sign up for a 10k on Thanksgiving!!!

BTW..for anyone keeping track (like me) I got offered a permanent position 2 months to the day I lost my other job.  Yay!!!

What great thing happened to you today?

Do you have a favorite running store?

When is your next race?

The I’s of Me

Injured.  Injury started 8/23.  I really pissed it off with the Disneyland half marathon on 9/2.  Doctor’s orders on 9/7 for no exercise 2 weeks from the time of the half marathon.  On Wednesday, 9/12 I felt absolutely no pain in my leg all day long.  Been going strong ever since.

Ill.  Mid morning on Thursday, 9/13 my nose started running.  Perhaps it felt sympathy for my legs not being able to run because it started running and would not stop!  I left work early on Friday because I was running a fever.  I’m still sick.

Inclined.  Before I run again, I need to visit my local running store to pick up a new pair of shoes. I’d like to return to my running routine on Wednesday…nice and slow like the doctor said!

I miss Boston.  The blog world is all a-buzz about Boston right now.  I have my fingers crossed for many of you that you’ll get in!!!  Chances are excellent I will never run Boston…for 1) I don’t have a desire to run a marathon  – a requirement to qualify and 2) I am a slow runner – people finish full marathons in the time it takes me to run a half!

D is Arizona born and raised so in October 2010, I took her to visit my sister in Boston for the very first time.  I absolutely love Boston, fall is my favorite time of year there, and I think everyone should visit this amazing city!  To further spike the Boston marathon fever, below are a couple of my favorite pictures from our first 24 hours in Boston October 2010.

Hitching a ride from the North End!

Make Way for Ducklings…and D!

Rain and a View

Had more than enough time this morning before work to treat myself to eggs and coffee!

Woke up this morning to the sound of pouring rain and I was so thankful I didn’t have to drive on the freeway to get to work this AM!  It ended up being a complete waste of time that I did my hair before work.  After ushering D in to day care and getting caught in the rain, my hair went completely straight!

Had a good, busy day at work.  At one point I looked out the window from my desk and saw this amazing view!

Hmm….love beer!  Love San Tan!

On the way home, I stopped and picked up some necessities for dinner and..a jar of peanut butter!

I told M I was going to eat peanut butter again and she asked me to at least make it organic!  Deal!

I ran 1 mile after I was home from work this evening, this running streak thing is going strong and I’m at day 89.  The continued streak is supposed to last until Labor Day.

I am completely psyched to run 10 miles in the morning.   Okay, maybe not “psyched” but I am on board to do it.

Do you eat breakfast at home or at work?

Do you eat organic peanut butter?

How are your runs going?
